The Junior Prize
The “Benediktpreis von Mönchengladbach” is awarded every two years. This award is generally granted to individuals with significant life experience who have made outstanding contributions to the common good through their actions and who serve as role models—not least for the younger generation.
From this younger generation, we are seeking a young woman, a young man, or a group of young people—ideally between the ages of 17 and 30—for a separate award: the “Junior Prize of the Benediktpreis von Mönchengladbach Association.” Candidates should have demonstrated value-oriented action in the fields of economy, science, society, culture, or art in a special way, against the backdrop of Christian-Western experiences.
The achievement to be honored may be, for example, a scientific work (doctoral thesis, master’s or diploma thesis), an artistic work and/or a lecture, an initiative (founding an association, etc.), or any other deed valuable to society. It should also be exemplary and, if possible, have potential for sustainability.
The Junior Prize was first announced in the fall of 2015. It is awarded on a biennial basis and carries a prize of €1,500; further gradations are planned. The association’s board of directors decides on the awarding of the prize.
We are currently seeking applicants once again. Proposals, which should ideally be summarized on one A4 page, are requested by December 31, 2026, at the association’s address:
