The association “Benediktpreis von Mönchengladbach” mourns the passing of Prof. Dr. h.c. Kasper König. The art curator and university lecturer was a dedicated member of the association’s board of trustees from 2017 to 2023. His ideas and suggestions had a positive impact on the work of the board of trustees and the association, says Ulrich M. Harnacke, Chairman of the association “Benediktpreis von Mönchengladbach”. König was one of the great figures in the art and exhibition scene. He was the influential director of Cologne’s Museum Ludwig and, among other things, the initiator of the Skulptur Projekte in Münster. Prof. Dr. h.c. Kasper König died in Berlin on August 9, 2024, at the age of 80.
