With sorrow, we at the association “Benediktpreis von Mönchengladbach” e.V. remember the German Pope who passed away yesterday.
During the founding phase of our association in 2012, thanks to special personal connections to the Holy Father, we had the opportunity to ask him about our plans in Mönchengladbach, to inform him about our association and its objectives, and to request his opinion. With great joy, Pope Benedict XVI expressed a very positive view of our plans and encouraged us to implement our project of establishing an award, as set out in our statutes and objectives.

Looking back on the first 10 years of the “Benediktpreis von Mönchengladbach”, we can say that the kind words of the Holy Father helped to establish the award successfully and thus also to ensure it has a good future.
